Cleaning - is an essential task after using ultrapure water equipment, as it leaves a large amount of impurities after filtration, which can cause blockage or damage to the equipment. So how should we clean ultrapure water equipment?
1. Physics cleaning method
The commonly used physical cleaning methods generally include low-pressure and high water flow cleaning (low working pressure and high total flow). Low pressure and high water flow cleaning refers to increasing the water flow rate on the membrane surface as much as possible under lower actual operating pressure, reducing the probability of solute molecular structure retention on the membrane surface, and on the other hand, discarding the concentration polarization between the liquid and the membrane surface. Reverse cleaning refers to applying pressure on the penetrating liquid side of the membrane to make the penetrating liquid penetrate the membrane in the opposite direction. On the one hand, this method can flush out the air pollutants blocked in the membrane pores, and on the other hand, it also has a certain cleaning effect on the adhesive layer on the surface of the material liquid side membrane.
2. Chemical properties and methods
In actual operation of EDI equipment membrane stacks, for membranes with severe environmental pollution, physical cleaning alone cannot restore membrane flux, and chemical properties must be relied upon. The selection of organic chemical cleaning agents should be based on the types of air pollutants in the membrane, the level of environmental pollution, and the physical characteristics of the membrane. Cleaning agents can be applied independently or in combination.
3. Biological cleaning methods
This method can be further divided into two categories: one is similar in chemical properties and uses cleaning agents for cleaning. The difference is that this type of cleaning agent has biological specificity, and the other is to fix the biological agent in place and fix it on the membrane in a unique way, making the membrane have anti fouling properties.
