The tap water used in daily life and production refers to the water that has been purified and disinfected by the water treatment plant and meets the corresponding standards. As is well known, tap water contains many impurities that cannot be purified by water plants. The application of ultrapure water equipment can separate impurities in tap water, thereby obtaining the required ultrapure water. So, what impurities can ultrapure water equipment filter out from tap water?
1. Colloids: Particles with a diameter of 10-8-10-4 millimeters are generally referred to as colloids. Colloids are mainly composed of aluminum, iron, silicon, and organic compounds from animals and plants. They can be seen with the naked eye under light. Colloids are aggregates of molecules and ions. Generally speaking, the humus content in lake water is relatively high. Therefore, this water quality often appears brown or yellow. In addition, colloidal particles do not settle on their own and need to be added to water. When stability is disrupted, colloidal particles may precipitate or be removed from water through an ultrapure water system.
2. Dissolved substance: Particles with a diameter less than 10-6 millimeters are called dissolved substances. These dissolved substances are usually free in the form of ions, molecules, and gases. They are transparent in water and usually invisible to the naked eye. Common dissolved gases in natural water include nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, etc. These gases can corrode metals and are the main factors causing metal corrosion in water systems. In addition, plasma ions such as copper ions, zinc ions, and aluminum ions can be treated through ion exchange equipment, softened water equipment, and ultrafiltration equipment.
3. Suspended solids: Particles with a diameter greater than 10-4 millimeters are called suspended solids. Suspended solids in water include organic debris, sediment, fibers, and some decaying substances from animals and plants. They are turbid and visible to the naked eye. They settle naturally under static conditions and are easy to filter.
Before using ultrapure water equipment to produce the water quality we need, we need to understand the incoming water quality. If there are many colloids, dissolved solids, and suspended solids in the source water, it is necessary to install a pre-treatment device for the ultrapure water system to ensure its stable operation.
