Introduction to Activated Carbon for Reverse Osmosis Equipment - Pure Water Equipment - Jiajie - Jiajie Pure Water Equipment Manufacturer

There are various forms of activated carbon for active reverse osmosis equipment, such as pressure type and gravity type. The pressurized activated carbon column commonly used for fly pretreatment in reverse osmosis equipment is similar in form and structure to mechanical filtration.

The activated carbon filter of reverse osmosis equipment can be made into a simple activated column, or combined with quartz sand to form a quartz sand activated carbon filter column, which can adsorb residual chlorine and remove suspended homologous substances.

As a quartz sand activated carbon filter, there is a 0.2-0.5m thick support layer and quartz sand filter layer installed at the bottom, on which 1.0-1.5m thick activated carbon is installed. The filtration speed is 6-12m/h, but due to the small thickness of the packing layer, it can only be used in situations with good ice quality, low suspended solids and residual chlorine content. There are simple activated carbon filters and orthoquartz sand on the support layer.

Precautions for using activated carbon in reverse osmosis equipment:

Activated carbon should be alternately immersed in a 4% NaOH solution 1-3 times before being added to the filter. The filtration speed should be 10-21m/s, and the dosage should be about three times the volume of activated carbon. Before washing for 8-10 hours, suspended solids and colloids in the water should be removed as much as possible.

To prevent clogging of activated carbon micropores in reverse osmosis equipment, it is generally required that the inlet water volume of the cyclone is less than 3-5 mg/L.

The endpoint of activated carbon adsorption is based on the properties of the substance. As long as the role of activated carbon in the pretreatment of reverse osmosis equipment is to remove residual chlorine, the residual chlorine content in the effluent of the activated carbon filter should not exceed 0.1mg/l. However, if the residual chlorine content in the effluent is greater than 0.1mg/l, the activated carbon should be replaced.
