What is the working principle of RO membrane separation technology in ultrapure water machines? Advantages of RO membrane separation technology - pure water equipment - Jiajie - Jiajie pure water equi

Do you know about RO reverse osmosis membrane technology? RO reverse osmosis membrane technology is the key to ultrapure water machines, and it is precisely because of reverse osmosis membranes that they can have the excellent filtering effect of ultrapure water machines. So let's take a look at RO membrane reverse osmosis technology.

Working principle of RO membrane separation technology

Firstly, grasp the concept of "permeation". Permeation is a physical change. When two different concentrations of acid salts are separated using a semi permeable membrane, it will be discovered that the water on the less saline side will penetrate through the membrane and penetrate into the water with higher salinity, while the salt in it will not penetrate. Only by slowly combining the salt concentrations on both sides can we achieve equality. However, it takes a long time to complete this process, which is also known as infiltration. However, if a pressure is added on the water side with high salinity, the result can terminate the above infiltration. If the pressure is further increased, it can cause water to penetrate in the opposite direction, leaving salt remaining. Therefore, the principle of reverse osmosis desalination is to apply a greater pressure than natural osmotic pressure in saline water (such as source water), causing the permeation to proceed in the opposite direction, pressing the water in the raw water against the other side of the membrane, and turning it into clean water, thereby achieving the goal of removing impurities and salts from the water. Reverse osmosis technology is an advanced, energy-saving, and highly efficient separation technology today.

RO membrane structure

RO reverse osmosis membranes are generally made of polymer materials. Such as cellulose acetate film, aromatic polyhydrazide film, and aromatic polyamide film. The diameter of surface micropores is generally between 0.5 and 10nm, and the size of permeability is related to the chemical structure of the membrane itself. Some polymer materials have good salt repellency, while the water penetration rate is not good. Some polymer materials have a high number of hydrophilic groups in their chemical structure, resulting in a relatively fast water permeation rate. Therefore, a satisfactory reverse osmosis membrane should have an appropriate permeation rate or desalination rate. There are two types of membranes: asymmetric membranes and composite membranes. The key membrane materials currently used are cellulose triacetate and aromatic polyamides. Its components include hollow fiber type, roll type, plate and frame type, and tube type. Suitable for chemical unit operations such as separation, concentration, and purification, mainly used in the fields of pure water production and water treatment.

The advantages of RO membrane separation technology

(1) Efficient desalination rate should be achieved at high flow rates;

(2) Having high impact toughness and service life;

(3) Capable of withstanding the effects of chemical or biochemical processes;

(4) Capable of performing functions under lower operating pressure;

(5) The source of raw materials for film making is easy, the processing is simple, and the cost is cheap.

(6) Less affected by factors such as pH value and temperature;
