When the source water with strong ions enters the resin layer of the exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are exchanged with the sodium ions in the resin. The resin absorbs the calcium and magnesium ions, while the sodium ions enter the water. In this way, the water discharged from the exchanger is treated as softened water that removes strong ions. With the continuous development of the entire exchange process, all Na+ions in the resin lose their exchange effect after being removed. At this time, it is necessary to use NaCl aqueous solution to regenerate the resin, replacing the Ca2+and Mg2+absorbed by the resin. The resin absorbs sodium ions again. When the resin digests and absorbs a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions, it is necessary to carry out regeneration. The entire regeneration process involves cleaning the resin layer with salt water in the salt tank, replacing the strong ions on the resin, and discharging the regenerated wastewater out of the tank. The resin then repairs the softening exchange effect.
